Pointers

Preparing a floor for flowing screed is simple. Just remember to be neat. This will pay dividends in the long run and will mean no making good will be required.

Dos and Don'ts for flowing screed.

  • Always install a membrane on top of insulation. Foil insulation are degraded by all screeds if they come into direct contact.
  • Always use an expansion strip to allow the screed to expand and contract.
  • Always ensure that the joints in the membrane and where the expansion strip meets the membrane are taped. Do not use foil tape.
  • Ensure the room to be screeded is free from contamination as any bits of insulation, mud general detritus may float to the surface.
  • Ensure the area to be screeded is protect from frost, direct sunlight and Strong drafts.

Underfloor Heating Installation

With decades of experience in installation of underfloor heating systems, the team at Self Build & Contract Floors will ensure that the job is completed to the highest possible standards while keeping disruption to a minimum

A lower temperature of water is used because the larger surface area does not need to emit as much heat per square metre as the use of radiators.

So just how does underfloor heating work?

We guide water from a heat source to circulates through pipes laid under the floor placed in a continuous loop setup.

Pipes for each room run to and from the systems manifold which is located in an accessible and convenient location for the system

The pipes will then heat the entire floor, so no matter where you stand in the room, you will receive the exact same temperature.

So why choose underfloor heating?

The Underfloor heating systems from Selfbuild & Contract Floors Ltd provides warmth from the floor up. This is different from traditional heat sources (radiators) which heat the ceiling area first.

They use a lower water temperature because the larger surface area does not need to give out as much heat per square metre.

This means that the boiler is consuming less fuel giving you lower annual running costs.

Underfloor heating emits a greater proportion of radiant heat, away from traditional convected heat.

Except for small and discrete room thermostats controls, our underfloor heating systems are completely hidden, giving you less wasted wall space and more freedom to design your room.
